Starting around Thanksgiving and now into December 2020 we are observing a pickup of ransomware / malware / virus activity on computers being brought into our Perinton / Fairport office. We have also noticed attempted attacks on the business computers we manage and monitor. As a friendly reminder, please be extra careful while shopping online and take a look at the actual URL of the link in that email before clicking on it, you can usually see it when hovering over it – or just don’t click website links that you are not certain of where the email came from.
It is important to keep your PC fully patched up, meaning the Microsoft security and feature updates as well as those non-Microsoft applications you have installed on your PC. If you have applications or programs on your computer you do not use, it is often best practice to remove those.
